Note 2: Action items are more
effective when you also write, print out the petition and send it by snail mail,
or telephone your representative directly. Don't forget to be persistent! Send
follow up letters and/or fax, phone and keep demanding a response on how and
what they will actually do to mitigate concerns outlined. If no response then
personally visit and ask why they are not responding and representing your
concerns as per their mandate? If you don't get a satisfactory response let
them know that instead of working to support them, as in the past, you will now
actively work against them and do your best to remove them from office in the
next election. Often reading the petition will empower you to better deal with
the
establishment propaganda....

Call for comment on raw milk products proposal and GM application
(19 August 2011)
Food Standards Australia New Zealand today called for public comment on a report looking at permissions for raw milk products in Australia and an application for food derived from a genetically modified soybean.
FSANZ Chief Executive Officer Steve McCutcheon said Proposal 1007 was looking at whether or not permission should be given for raw milk (non-pasteurised) products to be sold in Australia.
The assessment of these products looked at what production and processing measures and product characteristics are needed to provide a high level of safety for consumers, Mr McCutcheon said.
In its second assessment report, FSANZ is seeking comment on its recommendation to permit non-pasteurised hard to very hard cooked curd cheeses. This will involve changes to the Food Standards Code relating to storage time and moisture content requirements.
Mr McCutcheon said FSANZ would continue to look at permissions for other raw milk cheeses through a new proposal that will use technical work already completed through P1007.
Other raw milk cheeses are being considered separately because a wider range of processing measures and product characteristics need to be considered.
The assessment work for P1007 concluded that raw drinking milk presents too high a risk to consider any permission in the Code. In the new proposal, FSANZ will also be reviewing the current exemption that allows raw goat milk.
FSANZ is also calling for comment on Application A1051, which is seeking permission for food derived from a genetically modified soybean with a tolerance to the herbicides glyphosate and isoxaflutole, to provide a broader weed management strategy.
FSANZs latest notification circular also contains information about approvals of Application A1026 Minimum Alcohol Content for Wine, and Application A1042 Food derived from Herbicide-tolerant Corn Line DAS-40278-9.
Approvals are notified to the Australia and New Zealand Food Regulation Ministerial Council. After notification the council has 60 days to either ask FSANZ to review the application or inform FSANZ that it does not intend to request a review.

NEWS RELEASE
FDA PROPAGANDA ATTEMPTS TO DESTROY THE
DIETARY SUPPLEMENT INDUSTRY
By Byron J. Richards, CCN
August 25, 2011
It is not surprising that FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg would use
blatant and deceptive propaganda to attack the dietary supplement industry. As a
self-proclaimed zealot
for the advancement of regulatory science, Hamburg would like the consumer
public to believe the earth is flatand that dietary supplements cannot prevent
and help treat disease. She is well-educated in science, especially
neuropharmacology and the new genomic science, thus it poses a dilemma for her
when study after study demonstrates the power of dietary supplement ingredients.
These studies show that dietary supplement ingredientsinfluence
the human genome in ways that prevent disease as well a! s offer practical
solutions to help treat most common, age-related diseases that afflict millions
of Americans. Such diseases include
type 2 diabetes,
cardiovascular
disease, and many
resistant forms of cancer.
Instead of embracing the nutritional gene science and ushering in a new
generation of health, happiness, and wellbeing for Americans, Hamburg has chosen
a return to yesteryear, a not-so healthy, happy time. The U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) is doing everything in its power to prevent the truth from
being told. Logically, we ask, what are her motives? One of them is
clearfacilitating pharmaceutical takeover of many ingredients sold by the
dietary supplement industry.
For as long as a
hundred years, FDA management has been in a constant
revolving door
with high-paying Big Pharma jobs and the large agribusiness/food companies it is
supposed to be regulating. This corrupt corporate culture pays lip service to
actual safety issues while it uses the FDA as a vehicle to secure profits and
wipe out competition. It is a flagrant abuse of regulatory power.
The FDAs public health battle front is invariably against those who offer any
alternative to the elite FDA profit club. In modern times this includes the
dietary supplement industry, family/organic farms, and health professionals
engaged in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Indeed, the dietary
supplement industry in the United States is booming, with sales of $28 billion
in year 2010. When you add in the natural/organic food industry and functional
foods, that figure hits $117 billion.

9) Operation Chicken...August 29th City Hall 5pm Council Chambers.
Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2011 17:35:03 -0400
From: Oliver Hobson <fresheggslondon@gmail.com>
To supporters of this issue and other interested parties,
We're currently re-tooling things here at Operation Chicken HQ in anticipation
of Councils decision on back yard laying hens which is due from Council Chambers
on August 29th after 5pm.
As some of you may be aware 200 people turned up to the public participation
meeting on August 16th and delivered well researched information to a committee
that appeared to give authentic consideration to the matter...by stroking their
chins.
The committee's recommendation goes to council for their decision on August 29th
at 5pm and if you can make it to Council Chambers at that time it can only help
encourage Councillors to at least explore a pilot project for back yard laying
hens in the city.
Should council decide that it does not want to shape appropriate and reasonable
legislation on this matter, that could put supporters of this issue in uncharted
territory when it comes to the 'what happens next?' question.
Members of Operation Chicken are currently in contact with the Ontario Land
Owners Association and Michael Schmidt (the raw milk man) who are no strangers
to these types of issue for the purpose of seeking guidance on the matter.
A view is maintained by some that it would be far more desirable and cheaper for
council to issue a reasonable and authentically considered decision that
accommodates all concerned on August 29th rather than continue with what appears
as an abuse of citizens who have attempted to engage them on this matter in good
faith.
Positive suggestions are always gratefully received at
fresheggslondon@gmail.com. If you
have any, please feel free to send them on.
If you can make it to City Hall on April 29th @ 5pm with family and
friends...see you there!
Please rest assured, whatever happens on the evening on August 29th, this issue
will not be over until the fat hen sings!
Operation Chicken.
