Dr. Eisenstein in his book Make an Informed Vaccine Decision (p. 81), says that the measles vaccine has a long history of causing serious adverse reactions, such as encephalitis, subacute (fatal) sclerosing panencephalitis (although, to be fair, the disease can cause this as well), Guillain-Barré syndrome, convulsions, seizures, ataxia, ocular palsies, anaphylaxis, angioneurotic edema, bronchial spasms, panniculitis, vasculitis, thrombocytopenia, lymphadenopathy, leukocytosis, pneumonitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, urticaria, deafness, otitis media, retinitis, optic neuritis, rash, fever, dizziness, headache, and death.

In Chicago, Homefirst Medical Services treats thousands of never-vaccinated children whose parents received exemptions through Illinois' relatively permissive immunization policy. Homefirst's medical director, Dr. Mayer Eisenstein, told us he is not aware of any cases of autism in never-vaccinated children; the national rate is 1 in 175, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "We have a fairly large practice," Eisenstein told us. In Eisenstein's view, vitamin D has amazing powers, even when it comes to
autism. In a recent presentation, he summarized his advice to parents
succinctly, "No Vaccine and More Vitamin D = No Autism."

says delivered about 15,000 babies -- mostly at home. With demand for home
births dropping, he said he is focusing more on families that want to avoid
vaccines.
He said he became passionate about
vaccine risks when years ago he listened to Leonard Horowitz, a dentist whose
Web site describes him as a "prophet" and is now promoting the theory that
bioengineers produced swine flu "in a conspiracy to commit genocide." Horowitz,
Eisenstein said, "was talking about AIDS and Ebola and autism and asthma and
allergies, and he linked it all to vaccines."
Eisenstein, who calls the American
Academy of Pediatrics the "American Academy of Pharmaceuticals," dismisses the
many peer-reviewed studies that failed to find a link between autism and
