California Lists Atrazine Herbicide as a Carcinogen. CA
environmental & health officials have added Syngenta’s atrazine, the second most
widely used herbicide in the USA, to the state’s Prop 65 list of substances
known to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Atrazine, the second most widely
used herbicide in the nation, can pose chronic risk to mammals, fish and
amphibians. The European Union banned atrazine in 2004 (meanwhile common in
Canada). Despite the U.S. EPA recently acknowledging the herbicide’s toxicity,
the agency continues to do nothing. As usual. At least one state is doing
something.
