Review by Beauty With Compassion, Summer 1994 of ANIMAL RESEARCH  T A K E S  LIVES - Humans and Animals BOTH Suffer.

"The author Bette Overell is President of NZAVS (NZ Anti-Vivisection Society).  The book was written to help counter the effects of a booklet produced and widely distributed by MAF in 1990, (available free of charge from the Ministry of Agriculture).  It is called Animal Research Saves Lives and was aimed at destroying the growing anti-vivisection movement in this country.  The creators of this booklet are linked by a single common denominator, the absolute necessity of maintaining vivisection, unopposed and unchallenged by the public - vivisection is the key to their profits.

Bette Overell has researched and written a wonderful reference book that to quote 'exposes facts seldom if ever published in the popular press, such as the growing medical movement against animal experimentation, the injustice of the peer review system whereby animal experimenters make their own laws, regulate their own activities, and the colossal and academic advantages being made from the industry'.

We recommend this book; it is essential reading for all who have been brain-washed to believe that health must depend on animal experiments.  We congratulate Bette on her achievement.  It is a book full of real facts.  It is well-presented, carefully researched; indeed a startling book which could not only change your life, but save it.

BWC is grateful to have such an up-to-date reference book.  We wish that it could be in every school library."
