Brains Used to Study Autism are severely Damaged in Fridge Disaster

Brains used to study autism were rendered 'useless' after the fridge storing them at the Harvard Hospital Massachusetts, malfunctioned. The Daily Mail (1) reported that the incident affected 1/3 of the world's largest collection of autistic brains leaving the brains severely damaged.

The Director of the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, Dr Francis Benes, told the Mail that the loss was 'devastating,' particularly, she said in light of the increasing demand for brain samples among scientists searching for the cause of autism and potential treatments.

The Boston Globe (2) who wrote up the original story reported that Dr Benes was devastated and said:

"This was a priceless collection you can't express its value in dollar amounts,"

Dr Benes told the Globe that she could not rule out foul play as both alarm systems failed to register the fault. The reporter from the Glove (no name supplied) wrote:

Benes said the situation is so unusual - the perfect storm of alarm and thermostat failure and the concentration of samples - that she cannot rule out foul play. She said she has not spoken to law enforcement officials, pending the completion of the internal investigation.

The Harvard brain bank has been accepting donated brains for around two decades and up until recently was home to the largest collection in the world which according to Dr Benes will take scientists years to replace.

While I can appreciate that this is a blow to the research taking place at the center and to parents who have donated brains for research, I feel that scientists cannot get an accurate interpretation of what causes autism if they do not read the mounting evidence supporting the correlation between autism and vaccination. I also feel that these 'so called' researchers cannot do accurate studies if they do not have a selection of brains at the center from children who have not been vaccinated to make comparisons, which I presume they have not.

I can think of three examples of excellent studies/papers these researchers could read while they have been left twiddling their thumbs waiting for more 'fully vaccinated' autistic children to die in tragic circumstances.

One pilot study written by Hewitson et al in 2010 (3) indicated that primates vaccinated with a variety of vaccinations including the MMR develop autistic like behavior. This study was a medical breakthrough and yet it had lain dormant in medical archives until author Catherine J. Frompovich who uncovered its full potential noticed it. (4). Ms Frompovich wrote:

Congress needs to consider seriously the Hewitson, et al. report that stated:

"Vaccine-exposed and saline-injected control infants [monkeys] underwent MRI and PET imaging at approximately 4 and 6 months of age, representing two specific timeframes within the vaccination schedule. …

"These results suggest that maturational changes in amygdala volume and the binding capacity of [11C]DPN in the amygdala was significantly altered in infant macaques receiving the vaccine schedule."

In my opinion it is not only congress that would benefit from reading the Hewitson et al paper very carefully but also the scientists and researchers at the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center.

Another very interesting paper that few have actually read is the 'Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine.' (5) This is yet another medical paper indicating the possibility that vaccinations cause autism.

Dr Rebecca Carley M.D. (6) states that the10th edition published in 1983, clearly states that SSPE (Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis) can be caused by the measles vaccine. SSPE is rare chronic, progressive encephalitis affecting primarily children and young adults. It is caused by a persistent infection of the measles virus, which can be a result of a mutation of the virus itself. Dr Carley firmly believes that SSPE is in fact autism. She has made her thoughts on the subject very clear, even stating on a radio show with David Kirby that autism is actually a non-fatal case of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis caused by demyelination following vaccine- induced encephalitis, and that the name of the condition was changed to autism to hide this self-evident fact. She has said that this paper is used to teach internal medicine to medical students all over the world.

Harrison says:

'Reported cases of SSPE may have been related to the measles vaccine',

The measles vaccine is of course is a component of the MMR vaccine.

Interestingly, an ARVI (Adverse Reactions to Vaccination and Immunizations) meeting, which took place in 1987, also discussed SSPE and vaccinations and came to the similar conclusion. (7)

This conclusion appeared in the section marked: 'Item 5 – MMR vaccine – 5.4 Postpartum Rubella immunization associated with development of prolonged arthritis neurological sequelae and chronic rubella arthritis Tingle et al. J of Inf. Diseases (1985), Vol. 152: pages 606-612'.

The committee members can be seen discussing points raised in the previous ARVI meeting. Dr. Cavanagh had reminded the committee of a SSPE like syndrome reported from rubella virus infection and noted the reported maternal viremia and transmission of rubella virus in breast milk, discussed in the correspondence submitted. Several other professionals brought up points on this matter. The minutes state that Dr. Christine Miller had completed a study of SSPE surveillance, and it was thought that none of her cases were associated with rubella. Dr. Wallace thought the report to which Dr. Cavanagh had referred to concerned congenital rubella syndrome, not acquired rubella.

Dr Carley says that if you read the description in the Harrison paper used to teach internal medicine to medical students all over the world, it is clear that what he is describing is, in fact, autism and the Harrison paper was published well before the ARVI meeting had taken place.

I would like to point out that unlike the researchers and the scientists at the Harvard Medical hospital, Dr Carley does do thorough research and had no previous knowledge of the ARVI meeting.

I think that it would benefit the scientists and researchers from the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center immensely to read both the Harrison paper and also the minutes from the ARVI meeting.

The Delong study (8) is yet another study that found another possible correlation between vaccines and autism. The authors abstract reads:

'The reason for the rapid rise of autism in the United States that began in the 1990s is a mystery. Although individuals probably have a genetic predisposition to develop autism, researchers suspect that one or more environmental triggers are also needed. One of those triggers might be the battery of vaccinations that young children receive. Using regression analysis and controlling for family income and ethnicity, the relationship between the proportion of children who received the recommended vaccines by age 2 years and the prevalence of autism (AUT) or speech or language impairment (SLI) in each U.S. state from 2001 and 2007 was determined. A positive and statistically significant relationship was found: The higher the proportion of children receiving recommended vaccinations, the higher was the prevalence of AUT or SLI. A 1% increase in vaccination was associated with an additional 680 children having AUT or SLI. Neither parental behavior nor access to care affected the results, since vaccination proportions were not significantly related (statistically) to any other disability or to the number of pediatricians in a U.S. state. The results suggest that although mercury has been removed from many vaccines, other culprits may link vaccines to autism. Further study into the relationship between vaccines and autism is warranted'.

This is yet another study which I feel would be immensely beneficial for all the scientists at the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center to read in depth while they have time on their hands.

If this is not enough research to keep the team at Harvard going, then they could always read the court documents and medical records of the Hannah Poling case. This case involved a 9 year old whose "pre-existing mitochondrial disorder was proven in court to have been aggravated by vaccinations, ultimately leading to her autism. (9)

Then there are the court documents and medical records of the latest case being reported from Italy in reference to a landmark court case.

The Daily Mail (10) has reported that the Italian courts have recently ruled in favor of nine-year-old Valentino Bocca's, ruling that his autism was provoked by the MMR jab that he had received aged nine months.

This ruling was made after three experts witness reports reported that 'in the absence of any other pre-existing conditions it is a 'reasonable scientific probability' that Valentino's autism can be 'traced back to the administration of the MMR vaccine by the health authority'.

. The Daily Mail said:

'Antonio Barboni, a doctor of forensic medicine and appointed by the judge to independently advise the court, wrote a report saying that 'in the absence of any other pre-existing conditions' it is a 'reasonable scientific probability' that Valentino's autism can be 'traced back to the administration of the MMR vaccine by the health authority'.

Dr Barboni's findings were endorsed by two other eminent doctors who examined Valentino, investigated his medical background, and gave evidence to the court hearing.'

Of course if the scientists and researchers were still unconvinced of a link between vaccinations and autism there is always the work of Lisa Blakemore-Brown, psychologist, expert in the condition of autism and author to keep them going. Blakemore-Brown insisted for many years that she was coming into contact with more and more children whose parents were insisting that their children only became autistic after vaccinations. (11)

I feel absolutely convinced that before researchers and scientists even begin to study the brain tissue of autistic children they should all read the aforementioned papers and research. I am sure that they would learn far more reading these valuable studies and papers then they ever would studying the brain tissue of autistic children who have passed away. Perhaps they should spend less time in laboratories and more time working with autistic children who suffer from the condition on a day-to-day basis and listening to the parents who have to care for them.
