TORQUAY Boys Grammar School head Roy Pike (left) was first in line when the needles came out at the school yesterday.

Child health consultant Dr Clive Sainsbury is pictured dispensing the first of more than 1,000 meningitis vaccinations at the school, which has been identified as a ''cluster'' after four recent cases.

Mr Pike said: ''The vaccinations have gone extremely well and it has been very efficient.

''The take up has been very high, almost 100 per cent.''
