Trading Standards in Nottinghamshire had inside information for a year that Notts Police officers were involved in a hardcore pornography racket but they refused to investigate.

Trading Standards in Mansfield and West Bridgford were sent detailed information of the porn racket but after a year they had done nothing. News Alliance had to intervene in the public interest to get the job done.

The complete inaction of Trading Standards proves that shoddy organisation does not work in the public interest. Particularly when it comes to exposing police corruption.

The reason Trading Standards did not act was to prevent another corruption scandal. Some Trading Standards officers are also former police officers with ongoing contact with serving cops…

The porn racket led by PCSO Martyn Barsby was blatant. He downloaded hardcore porn from the internet, burnt the files to DVD, printed the front of the disk, then sold the DVDs for £3 each. Most of his customers were serving ‘police officers’ in D Division.

Not one of his colleagues reported him and that makes them equally corrupt. Every one of Barsby’s male and female colleagues at Eastwood Police Station was aware of his criminal trade and did nothing.

In April 2006, Barsby tipped off Alan Grainger that he was about to be raided by Trading Standards and police on suspicion of DVD piracy. Grainger had a previous conviction for DVD and CD piracy.

Barsby helped him to avoid arrest and prosecution for a second time.

After the scandal was exposed by News Alliance in February this year, Barsby’s commanding officer Insp. Andrew Browning was demoted to Sgt for allowing the scandal to be exposed.

In September, Chief Supt. David Wakelin was promoted sideways and lost control of D Division. News Alliance asked the Home Office in June to investigate Wakelin’s contacts with the criminal underworld in Nottingham…

Operation Strikeback is now in full train and the overall problem in the area will be eradicated by the end of 2012.

Trading Standards refuse to comment on why they sat on evidence of police corruption and did nothing.

Police informant Andrew Chrich who set up Barsby’s porn piracy racket has not been arrested and questioned. Notts Police are terrified of opening Pandora’s box because they know where it will lead…

Therefore, Chrich has not been arrested to avoid another police corruption scandal in Notts. Chrich also rejected an offer to cooperate with the Notts Police Authority and DCC Chris Eyre but they have not yet authorised his arrest and questioning.

The IPCC whitewash brigade offered their appalling services but the entreaty was rejected out of hand.

The investigation continues….
