Glucocorticoids, also called corticosteroids, are a group of anti-inflammatory drugs that are related to cortisol, a natural steroid hormone produced by the body...used by doctors to treat inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), lupus, polymyalgia rheumatica and polymyositis. Inhaled glucocorticoids are commonly prescribed for longterm asthma treatment.
[2014 Dec] 14 Arrested In Deadly Meningitis Outbreak Linked To Framingham Pharmacy Tainted steroids manufactured by the pharmacy were blamed for a 2012 outbreak that killed 64 people. About 750 people in 20 states developed meningitis or other infections after receiving the contaminated steroids. Michigan, Tennessee and Indiana were the hardest-hit states.
