The following was published in Wellington newspaper City Voice, 21 April 1994
Not surprisingly in her letter to City Voice (7 April) Ann Ballin, spokesperson for the newly formed propaganda unit ambiguously named the Australia and New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching, omits to address any of the issues raised by correspondents, neither does she answer pertinent questions.
From whom is ANZCCART 'independent'? Certainly not the drug companies, the governments which they control, or the major industries involved in the vivisection industry. And why should this industry go to the extreme of setting up organisations like ANZCCART to combat those who challenge their con that damaging animals equates with human health?
The three famous R's (replacement, refinement and reduction) is the universal policy designed precisely as a gilt edged security for the continuance of vivisection. I have dealt with this substantially in my book Animal Research Takes Lives.
