[Media Sept 2003] Ten years of therapy in one night In 1962, Howard Lotsof, a 19-year-old heroin addict in New York, ordered from a chemist iboga, a plant used in West African rituals, and tried it for extra kicks. After consuming the bitter rootbark powder, he experienced a visionary tour of his early memories. Thirty hours later, when the effects had subsided, he found that he had lost all craving for heroin, without withdrawal symptoms of any kind. He said he then gave iboga to seven other addicts and five stopped taking drugs immediately afterwards.
THE ORTHOMOLECULAR TREATMENT OF DRUG ADDICTION by Archie Kalokerinos A.M.M., M.B.B.S., Ph.D., F.A.P.M., Glen Dettman A.M.M., BA, Ph.D., F.A.P.M. We have developed a non-toxic, detoxication procedure where we can take the addicts off heroin or methadone with no withdrawal symptoms. The addicts have no desire to return to the drug and if they do take a "fix," it is like injecting plain water, the detoxication is so complete and rapid. ........Methadone is far worse on the body, from a metabolic point of view, than is heroin.........It is unconscionable to me to put a person on methadone maintenance with no way to get them off......Why is it that the media supports orthodox views so readily, rejecting all other avenues of scientific investigation?
The-Hypoascorbemia-Kwashiorkor Approach to Drug Addiction Therapy: A Pilot Study: Alfred F. Libby and Irwin Stone 1977 At the time this paper was written 30 out of 30 patients were successfully treated in this pilot study under the supervision of AFL.
Vitamin C and Drug Addiction: Letter to the editor, Orthomolecular Psychiatry We found the vested interests of the current drug abuse programs most uncooperative, even to a point of hostility. Our main objective was to develop a successful and workable nontoxic treatment for drug addiction, and this we did. We regret that we neither had the money nor the time nor the facilities to find the mechanism of how it works. We hope that someone with more adequate facilities than ours will continue this work, and possibly answer the questions that Dr. Davis has raised.
