"Justifying vivisection

Sir, In my book ANIMAL RESEARCH  T A K E S  LIVES - Humans and Animals BOTH Suffer there are no 'inferences'.  What concerns Ann Ballin (The Post, Feb 22) is the book's expose of cold, hard, substantiated facts revealing the tactics of the vivisection industry of which, in her capacity as chair of ANZCCART, she is an agent.  ANZCCART is the publicity unit established to justify and sell vivisection to the public of Australasia.  It is less concerned with the protection of the care of animals in research and teaching than the protection of its members' interests, which comprise pharmaceutical companies, research institutes using animals, the Agricultural Chemical and Animal Remedies Manufacturers Association of New Zealand and others, all linked by the common denominator of their involvement in profit-oriented activities based on vivisection.

The leagues of doctors filling the ranks of the new abolitionist movement are not confined to Europe, Great Britain, America and Australia.  They are also active in Italy, Greece and Asia and many of them were formerly engaged in animal experiments from which they have defected, claiming it to be a wrong methodology.
